The library is open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early closings may occur for scheduled afterschool faculty meetings. Students who need to stay later than 4:30 may contact Mrs. Ryman and arrangements can be made for a time extension.
Philosophy
The principal objective of the library at Dobyns-Bennett High School is to provide a student-centered program that supports the mission, goals, and continuous improvement of the school. In order to become lifelong, independent learners, students must master information literacy. The library media center provides the tools necessary for students to develop these skills which are essential for mastering curricular content, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Policies
Books and other circulating materials are checked out for a 2 week period with a 2 week renewal option.
Student ID badges serve as library cards and are required to check out.
Students in the library are expected to have a purpose and act responsibly.
The school-wide code of conduct is enforced.
Students are expected to take care of the library materials and furnishings, push chairs in and place trash in the proper receptacles.
Students may not check out library materials for other students.
Library fines for lost materials are to be cleared before the end of each semester. Report cards will be held until obligations are cleared.
Copies are $0.25 per page. Change can be made at the circulation desk.
